Have you seen the Foresyte Saga?

This is Irenne (first wife) and Soames in the early years.

I’ve been fallowing this series for a long time. All started in 2004 in one cable channel in Chile, I think it was an Argentinean channel. I have always loved the period dramas so I engaged easily. Unfortunately, it was only on for 3 weeks, when the actual miniseries was transmitted in almost 10 weeks or more. I was so awfully cut from the development!

Anyway, that takes me to Argentina, 2005, when I was on holidays with Phillip and Thomas in Ushuaia – yes, the end of the world. I was pregnant and feeling really sick so I stayed in one day when Phillip was out visiting a Glacier. I could not believe it, one of the chapter I missed a year ago was on TV again… unfortunately that was all I could watch. L

Surfing in the wide range of satellite TV in Uk, I found my beloved miniseries again! Transmitted in ITV and from the very beginning. Sorted! I was loyal to it every Thursday night at 10 o’clock for almost 2 hours.

This is a story about an upper - middle class English family in 1906. All the problems, luxury, privileges and sadness trough their years.  Soames, a man, the antagonist, married a woman who did not love him, but he did love her dearly. His only mistake was to give too much and express too little - those were the days of the old British solemn school; a real gentleman would not cry or show any weakness through irrational feelings. Anyway, the story categorized him as cold, ambitious, pompous, but deep inside was a man who just wanted to be loved. Onthe other hand, the woman is the hero! Oh she married because she did not have any money and she had to embark herself with this “boring cold rich man”. While married, she had lovers, she run away with one of them, and even came back after a failure! … and there was the cold man taking her back again!

Anyway, years passed and they eventually get divorced.  Soames , the villain but in my eyes the real sufferer ,  is getting older and could not find the love he aimed for, he found some comfort in a low class French woman, who married him again just for his money, giving him a daughter who was his real adoration.

I am just impressed how the story wanted us to believe that there are things that you could do in the name of love! No matter if you are hurting everybody on the way, and that is Romantic! Unfaithfulness, lies, cheating seemed to be acceptable if it is done with passion and romanticism.

Wait a minute! Soames was the only victim here, and God! .. He was interpreted by Damian Watcyn Lewis and he played his part so well, I even found him sooooo handsome. At the end of the film, while I was crying my eyes out, I could feel for him. He waited all his life to shake hands with the woman who deceived him.

The film is based the book written between 1906 and 1921, The Forsyte Saga. There have been some previous Tv programs based in this book, but for sure, the one made by Granada TV, it has been the best so far.

Stupid film: The Reaping (2007)

This is a panoramic look of Concepcion.

I saw this movie last night, The Reaping (2007). It meant to be a science fiction thriller with some well known actors. We were comfortably in bed when the film started with a very curious scene of Chile!

Concepcion! 2007! It was shown as it was a tropical country, maybe a poor village in Mexico o something like that.  70% of people in the scene were of black race, they were wearing Ponchos and Chupallas . They were walking in dirty roads, no pavement, unorganised, with tracks and buses from the 1950. What is that?

I have nothing against of the fantasy of a film producer, but it has to be some element of accuracy where the context of the movie is set up. It meant to be a movie with all the realism aspect so it could be believed. It looks like Macondo an imaginary village from a surreal book. Do not say then with  subtitle at the beginning of the movie: “Concepcion, Chile”…  Do not say anything or  say: “somewhere in the world”, because that is not Chile or Concepcion at all!

But I am not that surprised, North American people could not distingue a country from other even if you tell them on their face.

Chile has no black people. Maybe these days some are moving in from the tropic to get some work, as Chile is maybe the only country in South America and Central America with a stable and developing economy.

People do not walk around with traditional dresses, less, dresses that belong to other cultures, like the tropic.

Concepcion is the second largest city in Chile. It has 4 states universities and 23 other educational institutions. Besides, is highly valued for all the economic and cultural contribution to the country.  What was shown in that film was a joke dressed as a GRINGO reality… pure stupidity.

From Wikipedia: Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe, the Mayor of Concepción, Chile, formally objected to the producers of the movie over its portrayal of the city in the opening scene. She pointed out that rather than being the dirty underdeveloped tropical city as shown in the movie, Concepción is an industrialized city with many universities and was surprised that such inadequate research of the setting had been carried out for a $100 million movie.

oh George…

Genio y figura. Principio a fin, desde All things must pass hasta Brainwashed de 2002…  la mas ultima nota de esa guitarra me hace sonar y volar con los sonidos y mezclas cosmicas. Oh George! You’re simply the best!

Me llena el alma con su arte cada vezque lo escucho.

LET IT DOWN

Though you sit in another chair, I can feel you here
Looking like I dont care, but I do, I do
Hiding it all behind anything I see
Should someone be looking at me

While I occupy my mind, I can feel you here
Love to us is so well timed, and I do, I do
Wasting away these moments so heavenly
Should someone be looking at me

Let it down, let it all down
Let your hair hang all around me
Let it down, let it down
Let your love flow and astound me

While you look so sweetly and divine, I can feel you here
I see your eyes are busy kissing mine, and I do, I do
Wondering what it is theyre expecting to see
Should someone be looking at me

Let it down, let it all down
Let your hair hang all around me
Let it down, let it down
Let your love flow and astound me

Though you sit in another chair, I can feel you here
